Keyo Brigg Bomber May 28th 2023
The purpose of this pre-race information is to ensure that you have all the necessary information prior to race day in order to make sure the event runs as smoothly as possible, if you do have any questions prior to race day please email LincsquadEvents@gmail.com .
Everyone attending an event must complete and submit a pre-event health declaration which can be shared on request with the NHS test and trace service. This will sent out prior to the event and will need to be submitted in the week before the event.
Registration will only be open on race day from 6:30am to 7:45am , there will be no race briefing on the day, this will be sent out via email no less than 3 days prior to the event.
Place your stickers on bike, helmet & paddle BEFORE entering transition. Your bike must be racked BEFORE 8:15am.
Please place your kayak (with vinyl number applied) at the kayak start on the river bank as per the instruction from the kayak marshal. Paddles & buoyancy aids (if applicable – see kayak section) are to be kept in transition.
Please prepare yourself by entering the water to acclimatise & warming up at least 10 minutes.
The event will be a mass start at 8:30am
The information below provides an outline of the race legs and may be subject to change, full details will issued to all competitors prior the event.
Relay teams
Relay changeovers will take place in the designated “relay tag pen” in the transition area.
On entering transition through the IN gate, relay members will proceed directly to the “racking position of their team”, where they will pass on the race leg to their team mate.
Race Routes
The race routes are well signed and marshalled, the race briefing will be focused on rules & safety reminders, it is therefore important that you have an understanding of the route as this will not be discussed in the race briefing. Click on the maps to see the routes in more detail.
Swim 1.5km
The River Ancholme – wetsuits are mandatory. The swim start is behind the leisure centre. The swim is up stream (keeping to the LEFT) towards the railway bridge, turn at the buoy and return (keeping to your LEFT) to the leisure centre. Exit at the access ramp, going around the side of the transition area and into transition through the “IN” gate.
Cycle 30km – 1 lap
Brigg – Hibaldstow – Redbourne – Waddingham – Snitterby loop & return
All competitors are required to adhere to the Highway Code to ensure their own and other road user’s safety. Take extreme care at the level crossing between Brigg & Hibaldstow, if the barrier warning sounds you MUST stop and wait, a marshal will be present to make a note of any time lost. Marshall’s are present to warn and ensure safety of all road users NOT to stop traffic.
Having completed the lap return into the leisure centre taking care & slowing down, continue up to the dismount line, then run to transition with your bike through the IN gate, rack your bike before removing your helmet.
Caution and clear indication of your direction towards other road users is advised at all roundabouts and remember you are responsible for your own safety.
Kayak 7K
The River Ancholme
Entry points for the kayak leg will be clearly marked. Head north keeping to your RIGHT as per usual waterways convention. At the turn point head back towards the Leisure Centre. On return, exit at the kayak access ramp as you did for the swim exit and head towards transition.
Run 10km – 1 laps
Brigg – Broughton Bridge- Brigg
The run takes you into Brigg centre and along the tow path towards Broughton Bridge. There a number of road crossing to be aware of as well as predestrians.
Prizes and presentation
Presentation will be held under the finish line at approximately 1:00pm.
There will be presentations for all age group winners.
