Hotshot!
Once again we were treated to another evening of dry and relatively calm conditions for our second TT of the year. It was chilly though!
Ten different clubs were represented by the 43 riders who descended on the King William, demonstrating just how attractive and popular the Lincsquad TT has become over the years, long may this diversity continue, bringing together riders from all over the county to test themselves on our course, at the same time forming new and lasting friendships.
Last night saw the return of many regular TT stalwarts, including past master Steve Grocock, trying to knock the young upstarts off their newly found perches at the top of the pile. Not a bad early season effort from Steve, registering a fine 21:43 for third spot on the night. I’m sure that there will be more to come from Steve in the coming months once he gets dialled into his still relatively new machine.
Once again though it was the young legs that took the top two spots with both Kieran Hotson (fastest on the night 20:49) and Bev Jones (21:08) improving on their respective times from Round 1.
So it was that Kieran took that number 1 spot on the night, by 19 seconds from Bev. Rumour has it that Bevan has new machinery lined up in the wings as he waves goodbye to his pretty black orange and white Moda Interval. The big question is though…will he be quicker? Time will tell.
Female honours went to Caitlin Bower, with her new wheels, and a time of 27:31, just pipping the returning Jane Clarke (27:34) by only 3 seconds. Sam Ritson took third spot in the ladies section with a time of 27:49. So, just 18 seconds covered the top three ladies, it could be a really interesting season of close racing if this continues!
According to the records, there were 9 hotshots who recorded personal bests on the night, stand up: Shaun Robinson (22:02), Jonathan Bower (24:01), Ash Evans (24:48), Richard Ogden (25:13), Luke Stonehewer (26:08), Darren Scutt (26:36), Rob Danson (26:46), Sam Ritson (27:49), Victoria Whitting (28:21) Well done to all of you!
Last and by no means least, huge thanks go to the amazing timekeeping team and marshals, organised and assigned with military precision by the one and only head timekeeper Kerry Padley:- Rob Walsh, Anna, Freddie and Suzy Gibbs, Tom Padley, Malcolm Dent, Tony (disco) England, Andrew Lawson, Kev Cooper and Martin McLoughlin.
Our TT’s don’t happen without these people, please help our team and volunteer to do your bit for the best TT series in the area!
The raffle (a box of gels, an inner tube and some electrolyte tablets) was won….but I couldn’t remember by whom! Hahaha! The old grey cells are disappearing faster than Richard Ogden’s weight 😉
STOP PRESS: Kerry has just reminded me that the raffle winner was Malcolm Dent ; sorry Malcolm, nothing personal! 🙂
So, here are the podium riders for the second of our 11 great TT’s, well done to everyone riding and once again, thank you to all of the above mentioned people who make this great series happen.
