Wednesday 25th July 2018 was the date we held the 9th Training race in the series of 11. Back at Burringham for this one. It seemed a little strange knowing that this would be the last one we stage here this year and due to the ongoing work to the flood defences we believe that we will not be able to use it at all next year either. We do have other venues we can use, with different routes and distances so there is no need to worry.
However this did not affect the atmosphere amongst the athletes, with them still cracking jokes like:
“Jeff can I change waves” or “Jason can we shorten the run’s to 1 mile, we have had a vote and all agreed” well laugh Jason and I nearly wet ourselves, you lot you are funny.
So with everyone in the waves they had been put in and the training race distances set to 2 miles for the run 11 miles for the bike and a further 2 mile run to finish we got underway.
The weather had kept a few away, after all the Duathlon boys and girls like it rainy with the winds blowing up to hurricane force, so when the forecast was for lovely sunshine and a slight breeze, people must have thought blimey what’s the point, so 28 starters took to the set distances, set route in their set waves (have already mention that the waves are set as are the distances).
Two more training races to go, which means all to play for in the series points, with none of the top spots certain as yet. We hope to return to Normanby park for Training race 10 then Flixborough for 11 (this being the third Handicap).
