Why did you decide to be a coach?

Wanted to be a coach because I thought it would be great to get involved with the club more and give something back. Cheesy response I know but the truth

Have you a favourite discipline? If so which?

Favourite discipline is swimming as it’s something I’ve always done since being a child

Have you a favourite event?

Club relays is my favourite event because it’s such a great social get together. It’s not about winning but about taking part!

What’s the best words of advice you’d give to a our members?

Best advice would Be that you don’t need loads of expensive equipment to do a triathlon just have a go and enjoy it

What’s the best thing about LincsQuad?

The support that people give each other makes it feel like a big family.

Roo Butterill, Level 1 BTF Coach

Why did you decide to be a coach?

I’ve been at the club a couple of years, and learnt a lot from our existing coaches, so when I was approached to be a coach, I liked the idea of giving something back to the club, and passing on to other members the valuable things I have learnt and still learning.

Have you a favourite discipline? If so which?

From a Coaching point view, it would be Swim, this is because some small changes to an athletes’ stroke can have big gains.

From a competing view, the bike is my favourite part,  mainly because this is something I have always enjoyed.

Have you a favourite event?

Team Relays, great atmosphere and feel like there is no real pressure.

What’s the best words of advice you’d give to a our members?

Remember, we can’t all be a Brownlee, be proud of what you achieve whether it be a sprint tri, a long distance event or attending sessions with us.

What’s the best thing about LincsQuad?

Seeing members enjoying the training sessions, Triathlon and Quadrathlon are about taking part and enjoying it.

Why did you decide to be a coach?

I enjoy helping other and passing on knowledge

Have you a favourite discipline? If so which?

My favourite discipline is the bike. I enjoy cycling and all the technical stuff which comes with cycling.

Have you a favourite event?

Brigg Sprint is my favourite event,. It was the first triathlon i ever did and i found everyone supportive and friendly. this has continued to be the case over the years

What’s the best words of advice you’d give to a our members?

Set yourself small achievable goals which keeps you progressing towards your dream! Whether that to be continuously swim 16 lengths or do a sub 10 hour Ironman.
