Chris Durham achieves Cat 1 status

Many of you will be aware Chris Durham a “graduate” of the Lincsquad Youth Academy has just gained his 1st Category Race Licence from British cycling at age 17. This really is a huge achievement for Chris and means he sits just one level below professional cyclists. We asked Steve Cannings who knows a little about coaching and the world of cycling (!) for a few words on Chris’ achievement.

Chris started attending the Lincsquad Saturday morning youth cycling sessions several years ago and showed some real ability he applied himself brilliantly at the coaching sessions but went on to achieve even more than the coaches predicted . Chris has attended the British Cycling regional and national schools of racing where only the most talented and promising youth cyclists are invited to attend. He has also represented his region at the National School games and the national inter-regional track cycling championships and was the GHS National Time Trial Champion for his age group (12 yrs).
This year he has raced very strongly at the Quibell Park Track Cycling League resulting in him winning the Senior A league and gaining his 1st category licence. All of these achievements are something for Chris to be really proud of and are a product of a huge amount of dedication and exceptional hard work in training and applying that training in races.

We also feel its appropriate to mention the hard work and support his family Dad David, Mum Nancy and brother Michael would have put in.

Congratulations Chris.
